Stéphane Spahni has a PhD degree in Computer science (telecommunications) from the Science faculty of the University of Geneva.

He is working since 1996 at the University Hospitals of Geneva, now in the eHealth and Telemedicine department. His main activities are currently related to the secure exchange of information between the hospital and its partners – locally and regionally being strongly implicated in the design and development of the electronic patient record MonDossierMedical.ch and its shared medication treatment plan – and internationally in particular as the technical leader for Switzerland for the cross-border eHealth National Contact Point.

Stephane Spahni is strongly implicated in the IHE Initiative, being IHE Europe user co-chair, board member and user co-chair of IHE Switzerland (representing Switzerland in IHE Europe and IHE International). He is also an active member of IHE Pharmacy.
